Story Information
Pilots: Introduction:
  • Lilie Hartmann
The Bear Fighter is an old Republican Army Zoid with an interesting gimmick: Being able to swap between quadrupedal and bipedal stance. This allowed it a huge range of options during the war.  [1]

- Details of Design

Variable Stances

The Bear Fighter can switch between different stances like bears in real life, able to charge through enemy lines in its quadrupedal stance while tanking hits with its heavy armor. Once in position it switches to a bipedal stance for melee combat, getting up close and personal with enemies. This might seem like an odd choice, but its front legs can deliver such powerful blows that it can defeat its rival from its same weight class, the Black Rhimos, in a single hit. The stability of its quadrupedal form also benefits its artillery.

- Military History

Dark Continent War, Mass Production Begins

During the Western Continent War the Republic was forced to play defensively, but when they made the decision to pursue the retreating Empire to the Dark Continent it became necessary for them to act more aggressively. This operation meant targeting enemy bases, which meant they needed strong, well-armored Zoids. At the time, the Dibison was the only Zoid suitable for this type of assault warfare, and so the Bear Fighter was ordered for mass production. Its shining record of overthrowing Zenebas bases during the Old War as well as its ability to switch between multiple fighting stances made it a valuable asset.

ZAC 2101, January, Proposed cease fire Response

After the Helic Republic was successful in taking Nixie Base, perhaps the most important stronghold held by the Guylos Empire in the Western Continent war, the president of the Republic secured the continent then recommended a cease fire. However, on the day of the deadline, Nixie Base was instead bombed by wave after wave of Zabats, autonomous unmanned Zoids who had no self preservation instinct. Bear Fighters were among those desperately fighting back from the ground. The battle concluded with Salamanders being used to attack the Whale Kings deploying the Zabats.

- Equipment Information

- 2-Barreled Electromagnetic Cannon

2-Barreled Electromagnetic Cannon: 2連装電磁キャノン砲×1

The electromagnetic cannons are equipped to the back, with their mount locking into the mechanisms that allow the Bear Fighter to change its stance. The guns can rotate up and down at the cap, able to point almost straight into the air.

- 6-Shot Missile Launcher

6-Shot Missile Launcher 6運装ミサイルランチャー×1

The Missile Launchers are installed on the chest, with three on each side. As the name implies, they can fire up to six missiles at a time. However, in the quadrupedal stance they face towards the ground. This seems counterintuitive until the Bear Fighter changes to its bipedal stance, at which point these guns are perfectly positioned to be pointing directly into the center of enemy Zoids that the Bear Fighter is grappling with.

- Composite Armor

Composite Armor 複合装甲

All in all, Bear Fighter really shines as a fortress invader. The heavy composite armor on its back is so strong that it can withstand bombardments from the enemy's frontlines, allowing this beast of a medium-scale Zoid to barrel right through defensive lines and attack the enemies from within their own territory.

- Sensor x2

Sensor x2 センサー×2

Aside from being a heavy armored Zoid, it also has two sensors in the form of its ears. It's not specified how these work.

- Super-Reinforced Canopy

Super-Reinforced Canopy 超強化キャノピー

The super-reinforced canopy refers to, of course, the orange glass over its face. It's presumed that this is either thicker or more durable than usual just from the name alone. While it isn't given a specific description, one would assume it's pretty strong if Bear Fighter tanks bombardments as a hobby.

- Ultra-Hard Ceramic Claws x4

Ultra-Hard Ceramic Claws x4 超高度セラミック爪×4

The Bear Fighter's four sets of claws. As a bear, this Zoid specializes in melee combat just as much as bombardment. In fact, its claws are said to be so powerful that it can knock out other Zoids of its class, such as the Black Rhimos, in a single hit.
