Story Information
Pilots: Introduction:
  • Zairin
The Bio Megaraptor was, in a sense, the flagship Bio Zoid. It often serves as a commander of lesser Bio Raptor units, overseeing the chaotic shenanigans of its smaller brethren. For its time, it was a Zoid of unimaginable power, especially when factoring in the Hell Armor that protected it from most conventional weapons.  [1]

- Military History (Generations)

Chapter 2, Bio Dromaeosaurus

Ken and Midori scouted out a Bio Dromaeosaurus, looking almost exactly like the Bio Megaraptor while doing patrols around the unit. Though Ken wanted to avoid a fight, and reported its sighting to Jin, Midori charged right on ahead. Their weapons, not being made of Metal-Zi couldn't kill the Zoid, but they engaged it in combat until Jin and the Rez Wolf arrived to destroy it.

- Notable Facts

  • Zoids Generations, an art / story book, featured a Bio Dromaeosaurus that was essentially a Bio Megaraptor. When the story was initially published in Dengeki Hobby Magazine it was referred to as a raptor-type Bio Zoid, and was only given the dromaeosaur tag upon the book's publication. This was technically accurate enough at the time.

  • Some astute viewers may realize that Megaraptors don't have sickle claws like velociraptors (and the Bio Megaraptor), nor are they dromaeosaurs. As it turns out, when Megaraptors were first discovered, they were indeed believed to possess sickle-like claws on their feet, leading them to be classified as giant dromaeosaurs. However, in 2004, a more complete specimen was described, revealing for the first time that what was believed to be a foot sickle claw actually belonged on the hand. This was quite a recent discovery. Bio Megaraptor was depicted in CoroCoro as early as March 2005, meaning it was probably nearing the end of its development phase at the time that this discovery was made. In the end, Bio Megaraptor visually represents a fun piece of its' species history.

- Equipment Information

- Bio Zoid Core

Bio Zoid Core: バイオゾイドコア

Like all Bio Zoids, the Bio Megaraptor is equipped with a Bio Zoid Core. In the model-verse, this new unique type of core is poorly understood, with virtually no information. Zoids Genesis had their own unique take, linking the pilot to the Zoid through a specialized suit, as the pilot resided inside of the Bio Core. This role could also be taken over by specialized robots used by the Digald Regime, which contained human souls that were forced to obey all orders after being sealed inside the robots.

- Burning Jet ×2

Burning Jet ×2: バーニングジェット×2

The Burning Jets are installed to the backs of the legs, between the angular metal fins and the body. They seem to give the raptor a boost in speed, and in the case of Zoids Genesis, allow the Bio Megaraptor to run up steep inclines.

- Heat Hacking Claw ×2

Heat Hacking Claw ×2: ヒートハッキングクロー×2

The Heat Hacking Claws refer to the hands. These claws are massive, and thick. With the excellent reach of a Megaraptor they have a lot of potential in close-range combat. Though nothing explicitly states so, it wouldn't be unreasonable to assume all of the Heat weaponry functions like the Spikes.

- Heat Killer Bite

Heat Killer Bite: ヒートキラーバイト

The Megaraptor's jaws are long and lined with sharp teeth. Not much is actually mentioned about them, and it's not a weapon they're depicted using often, so their effectiveness is unknown.

- Heat Spike ×2

Heat Spike ×2: ヒートスパイク×2

The Heat Spikes are the large sickle claws on the feet. These can heat up to red-hot temperatures, allowing the Zoid to strike a target and cut through enemy armor, deep into the internal machinery. In a close-range battle these kinds of effects can be devastating.

- Hell Armor

Hell Armor: ヘルアーマー

Megaraptor is covered in the liquid metal "Hell Armor". This armor is resistant to both optical and ballistic weapons, making Bio Zoids extremely hard to oppose through conventional means. It can only be damaged by Metal-Zi weapons, and in the anime, this goes so far as to have the armor be practically invincible, requiring pilots to target the body beneath it. When a Bio Zoid is defeated, the Hell Armor coating bubbles and melts away for unknown reasons.

- Hell Fire

Hell Fire: ヘルファイアー

A ferocious weapon, the Hell Fire is an attack fired from the jaws. The attack itself is composed of a gel-like napalm. This substance instantly ignites when it comes in contact with the air, burning anything it connects with to ashes. In the anime, normal Bio Raptors are depicted with flamethrowers, while Megaraptor is shown firing orbs of fire. Anime physics in Genesis are questionable at best, but in the series, these attacks can travel horizontally quite far.

- Tail Cutter

Tail Cutter: テイルカッター

Megaraptor's tail comes to a sharp point at the end, and with how long and agile this Zoid is, it's a fitting weapon for slicing and dicing opponents.
