Story Information

The Bio Raptor is a mass-produced Zoid used to fill out the ranks of the Digald Regime. It was originally designed based on DNA from the Bio Megaraptor, leading to it having a lot of artificial parts compared to other Bio Zoids, and since it's relatively weak it's often mobilized in large numbers.  [1]

- Details of Design

A Weak Core

Bio Raptors were always designed with quantity over quality in mind, and since it was known that this would be a weak, expendable Zoid, it was produced without much fine tuning done to the Zoid Core. As a result, even without the overhanging threat of combat, Bio Raptors are known to have a particularly short lifespan compared to what it should be. Most won't live long enough for it to matter, but still.

- Military History (Generations)

Interlude (10 years before story), Reappearance

When Bio Zoids first appeared in the latest generation they followed a river to the Kanan Fort, where a fierce battle broke out between them and the fort's inhabitants. Though they faced a great deal of opposition, few of them died in this fight due to a lack of Metal-Zi weapons. As soon as they spotted reinforcements arriving from the capital, they also saw their opportunity to strike. Countless flying Bio Zoids came in from the skies, having waited for an opportunity where the capital city's guardian deity, Liger Red "Hiou" would be absent. Now that the Zoid had run all the way to Kanan to offer its support, along with its Metal-Zi wielding teacher, they skirted around the opposition and attacked the capital of Nakato.

In both of these battles Bio Raptors appeared to make up a significant chunk of the swarms. They successfully broke through the western gate and bogged down every other. Even as the gates opened to allow Hiou back into the city, Bio Zoids swarmed them from all sides. They slowly ate away at the guard unit until few remained. However, when Hiou reached the stage in the center plaza, an amplifying device, and performed its sacred dance, peculiar sound waves were emitted that purified (in other words, killed) all Bio Zoids in the lands. Their battle had abruptly ended. However, Hiou itself warned that in 10 years time, when the Bio Zoid's true ruler resurfaced, these sound waves would cease to be effective.

Roughly 2 Years Before, The Spino

On a stormy day a swarm of Bio Raptors fled a much larger Bio, the Bio Spino. As they ran they moved through a graveyard of their brethren, ensuring there was no confusion about them being prey. On the way out, however, civilian Zoids appeared in the path. The Bio Raptors fought viciously to get past them, and many of them did. Those who got held up were immobilized by the electromagnetic waves of the Bio Spino, and were slaughtered one by one until the Jin Squad managed to get close enough to attack the Spino.

Chapter 3, A Close Call

A swarm of Bio Raptors, lead by the Reaper attacked a band of 5-6 civilian Zoids. They likely would've slaughtered them had Midori and Ken not shown up with their Zoids, having overheard the explosions of the battle. In spite of their appearance, Midori was inexperienced, and hadn't gotten used to using her Metal-Zi weapon. During the battle she smacked one of the Bio Raptors with the claws, breaking its neck. Terrified, she watched as the Raptor rose back up, its head hanging like a marionette. Even this degree of damage couldn't kill it without Metal-Zi. While she realized that she had to use her Metal-Zi weapon at this point, it was too little, too late. The Reaper struck Souga in the head with its giant poison-soaked claws, and the surrounding Bio Raptors started trying to eat the stunned Liger alive, dragging him back into the swarm. Luckily for her, Jin and his Rez Wolf showed up. Between his Metal-Zi sword, and the confusion of Raete's missile bombardments, the Bio Zoids decided the risk was too high and left the battle.

Chapter 4, Swarm Conflict

Another swarm, this time consisting of Bio Raptors and Bio Raptor Guis attacked the Princess of Ya Han, Sona, and the knights she'd been forming a task force with to investigate the Bio Zoid problem. Though there were a good few Zoids in this unit, only a couple were true combat Zoids. The Bio Raptors made quick work of them, until once again, the Jin Commando Squad showed up. They fought their way to the center of the battle and now, with all of their combat Zoids grouped up, the Bio Raptors seemed much more cautious. After losing a dozen or so of their own, they chose to flee.

The unit was pursued in the air by the Princess's Zoid, a Saint Gale known as Empressa. The group ran well into the night, until suddenly they were attacked by another Bio Zoid, the Reaper. This ferocious cannibalistic Zoid slaughtered the entire pack of Raptors, leaving a horrific graveyard in its wake.

Chapter 5, Attack on the Zoid Ranch

A swarm of roughly 20 Bio Zoids, consisting mostly of Raptors led by a Tricera had set up near a Zoid Ranch. Occasionally, one of the Raptors would come to check out the ranch, only to be gunned down by the Metal-Zi bullets of Veauregard's Gunz Raser. Even so, they didn't leave, and eventually attacked the ranch in the night. Several Raptors tried to take advantage of Midori being distracted, but were sniped by Veauregard. It's implied that the Bio Zoids lost this battle, given both Midori and Veauregard lived and Veauregard later referenced the Ranch still being around.

Chapter 7, Defense of the Caldera

When Midori and her crew entered the volcano of the Tatara Highlands, they encountered the Mother Bio, the origin of the Bio Zoid swarm. In spite of her overwhelming strength, she elected to summon countless Bio Zoids back to the volcano to handle the threats that now stood before them. Bio Raptor swarms were used to bring their travel to a stand still, until Jin and his Rez Tiger helped to cut a path, instructing the team to follow the Sparkling Beast, who would guide them back outside.

- Equipment Information

- Heat Hacking Claw ×2

Heat Hacking Claw ×2: ヒートハッキングクロー×2

The heat hacking claws are equipped to the hands. In general, the Bio Raptor was only a lacky for the armies depicted during its time, so basically none of its equipment got any additional explanation.

- Heat Killer Bite

Heat Killer Bite: ヒートキラーバイト

The jaws of the Bio Raptor, lined with small teeth. The 'heat' weapons aren't often depicted in the official media, and because all Bio Zoids use a "theme" for weapon names, it's unclear if those themes are literal (i.e. being actual thermal weapons) or purely thematic.

- Heat Spike ×2

Heat Spike ×2: ヒートスパイク×2

Like all classic velociraptors, Bio Raptors have a larger claw on the interior side of their feet. They use these weapons when pouncing upon targets, dogpiling to pin them down.

- Hellfire

Hellfire: ヘルファイアー

The Bio Raptor's primary weapon is its Hellfire. If it works the same as the Bio Megaraptor, it fires a gel-like napalm from the barrel in its mouth, which instantly ignites. In the show, this is depicted as a basic flamethrower instead, regularly employed to burn villages that Digald deems to be unnecessary. This is distinguished from how the Megaraptor's Hellfire is handled, which is as a projectile fire ball.

- Light Hell Armor

Light Hell Armor: ライトヘルアーマー

This special liquid metal armor covers the Bio Raptor, bouncing off attacks from standard weapons such as beam guns. If the Bio Raptor's Light Hell Armor works the same as the Bio Raptor Gui, it's listed as reflecting optical weaponry, but doesn't list the same protections as basic Hell Armor against general ballistics.

- Radar Wing ×2

Radar Wing ×2: レーダーウイング×2

The Radar Wings are two almost airplane like wings sticking out of the Bio Raptor's back. These don't seem to get described or used in the media, so their exact effects are unknown, but on the merit of them being radar we can probably assume it has something to do with locating enemies.

- Tail Cutter

Tail Cutter: テイルカッター

The tail has three sharp spikes coming off of its sides, which the Bio Raptor can use to slice enemy Zoids.
