Description:
A subspecies with a large number of claws born from mutated raptors, who lived in scorched earth. In addition to the leg claws, it uses six claws attached to the body to cut through enemy Zoids. There are different subspecies with different ways of attaching the claws in each region.

Excavation Site: Forest Zone
At the start of their excavation, it was thought to be a skeleton similar to that of Raptor's. After restoration however, they found new claws. One unit has claws that extend sideways like wings, able to rush through enemies while taking advantage of its excellent agility. In another machine, three claws are connected side by side, able to inflict great damage on enemies with a single strike. There are many different variations.

Land Reconnaissance Spec.

A Raptoria remodeling plan specializing in reconnaissance. The Camera Gun mounted on the head and the Radome on the back are used for spying enemies. Boosters attached to both legs allow the Raptoria to move at higher speeds, while taking advantage of Raptoria's ability to make small, precise movements. The claws on its arms can be used not only for close range combat, but also for scouting by climbing rocks and mountains.

- Official Custom

Night Bombardment Spec.

A modification plan for a Raptoria captured by enemy forces. It has the Dos Claw removed and is instead fitted with a medium-ranged cannon. It attacks enemies in front of it with the small shotgun and enemies behind it with a small Laser Gun. The overhead night-vision scope allows the unit to detect and fire on enemies even at night. A visor and restraint caps are also attached, and it seems that it has been deprived of its ability to think.

- ZW27 Raptoria Review

Number of Parts: 35   Motor: Wind-up   Price: 1,500 Yen   Size: Small

Raptoria is an adorable little kit that, while it looks underwhelming at first glance, earns a lot of favor when one watches the anime series "Zoids Wild ZERO". A star in the show, Raptoria quickly became a fan favorite. Even so, it's a retool of the Raptor kit, and there are a few areas where Raptoria fails to live up to expectations.

The first thing of note is that while Zoids product photos almost always use painted samples, Raptoria's colors have more differences than usual. The blue is darker and more faded (like the back piece here, and the black body is instead gray. My camera struggled to capture this, so I tried to edit the photos to match how it looks in person. A final note is that the blades add just enough weight that Raptoria can no longer walk under its own power, regardless of how much you wind it up. This is a common problem with the small Wild kits.

On the other hand, Raptoria is loaded with tons of hardpoints. You may or may not like this. I enjoy the customization options and had fun playing with the different ways to combine Raptoria's equipment. The clear caps are also the most gorgeous color, and capture light beautifully.

- Motorized Features

Motorized Features:
 - Walking
 - Tail sways back and forth

Raptoria's tail is connected to a mechanism that causes it to sway back and forth when it walks. If the kit were talking on a flat surface, much like the Raptor, it'd have a kind of "skipping" gate, but since the kit cannot move with the added weight, you don't get to see this much.

Motor Key:

The Oval Bomb on Raptoria's belly also serves as its motor key. You can remove this part, and use the ridges at the end to wind up the coil on its right side (just in front of the legs).

- Gimmicks

- Pilot

Raptoria, like all Wild kits, has a pilot figure that rides on the neck.

- Blades

The blades (the Crescent Claws and Slash Claws) are all attached to pegs, allowing them to rotate forwards and backwards. This is somewhat limited by other parts that jut out, such as the caps, pegs, etc.

- Dos Claw

Raptoria's Dos Claw is movable in a couple different places, first with a gray arm that allows it to lift up from the back. The claw can then lift upwards.

- Tail

The tail sways ever so slightly left and right. This can be done manually, but the tail also moves automatically when you wind up the motor.

- Evo Blast

Raptoria's Evo Blast, "Hex Slash", involves rotating all of the blades forward, and extending the Dos Claw. This is quite a look, but a bit strange in practice. Also, because of the pegs on the outside of the blades, it's a little difficult to rotate the ankle blades forward, as they'll clash with the pegs on the hip blades (see photo 3.)

- Modification Plans

One thing I had a great deal of fun with was figuring out all of the different ways the blades could combine. It's funny how just a couple of pegs can make all the difference in how a kit is configured, and because they're scythes, there's a lot of fun combos. Just to list a few in the below photos:
  • Crescent Claws on the feet for velociraptor claws (Ok, they're on the wrong side of the foot, but still!)
  • Using the two crescent claws to make pincers
  • Using the Slash Blades to create tail feathers
  • Combining the Slash Blade and Crescent Blade to create something reminiscent of Gilraptor's blade.
