- Zenebas's Counterattack  (ZAC 2041)





 It was ZAC 2041, a calm morning at the Republican Navy base overlooking Valecia Bay. Recruits were undergoing training on the flight deck of the Ultrasaurus, anchored in the harbor. A bearded petty officer, standing with his back to the sea, called out orders.

 "Attention! Rest! Attention!"

 One recruit shifted his posture, mouth agape, and pointed at the water. "S-Squad Leader, f-f-f-fish..."

 "You fool, don't break rank!"

 The petty officer raised his fist to scold the rule-breaking recruit.

 As he raised his fist, a sudden explosion echoed, the deck shook like a wave, and the petty officer's body was thrown into the air. A never-before-seen shark-type Zoid surfaced right next to the tilting Ultrasaurus. It was the Imperial Army's new Zoid the "Wardick" that'd fired its torpedoes at the Ultra.




 The day President Helic had feared had finally arrived. Emperor Zenebas led the Imperial Army in an attack from the Dark Continent.

 Only a year and a few months had passed since the withdrawal from Valecia Base. In this short space of time, Zenebas had completed his soldiers' training, developed new Zoids, and prepared for a counterattack.

 Helic felt both respect and fear for his younger brother Zenebas's incredible leadership skills.

 At the same time, Colonel Ericsson, at the New Zoid Development Laboratory near the Republic's capital, heard news of the Imperial Army's arrival.

 He was trying to develop an even more powerful high-speed Zoid based on the Sabretiger he'd captured at Valecia base.

 "If only I'd captured Emperor Zenebas, the war would've ended then..."

 Ericsson took off his white researcher's coat. It'd been a peaceful year thus far, but the day had come for him to once again don his field commander's uniform.

 "It's time to take care of some unfinished business."

 Ericsson spoke those words as encouragement.





 Having defeated the Republican Navy thanks to the efforts of Wardick, the Imperial Army began landing with a succession of Whale Kaisers, gigantic whale-type Zoid airships developed for the Central Continent landing operations. They landed in shallow water and from their hulls spilled numerous Dimetrodons, a new type of Zoid. Caught by surprise, the Republic's position was breached in no time.





 The Dimetrodon, equipped with a high-performance dorsal fin-shaped antenna emitted powerful jamming signals, cutting off the Republic's radio communications. It also destroyed the Gordos unit, which was composed of communications and reconnaissance Zoids, ripping the Republic's communications network to shreds. As a result, Republican Headquarters were unable to determine the exact position of the Imperial Army's landing.





 Unable to contact headquarters or request reinforcements, the Republic's garrisons along the coastline surrendered one after another. Finally, the northern coastline fell into the hands of a powerful Imperial landing force. Imperial soldiers were pouring out onto the shore, shouting in triumph. Their harsh lives on the Dark Continent were over; they had returned to their homeland's soil for the first time in over a year.
